I am an enthusiastic scientist and researcher inspired by biology, broadly interested in the evolutionary origins and genetic basis of ecological adaptations and speciation in insects, particularly pest species. I obtained my master (2014) and doctorate (2019) degrees in genetics and molecular biology in the field of animal genetics and evolution at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Currently, I'm a junior researcher ("postdoc") at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a collaborator researcher at the U.S. Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center (USDA-ARS, PBARC). My main research includes the analysis of genomic and transcriptomic data, and the development of molecular biology and genome-editing methods to support integrated pest management programs used to control natural populations of tephritid fruit flies. My experience and interests are: (1) Molecular phylogenetics; (2) Molecular identification and population genetics; (3) Functional genomics and transcriptomics; (4) Development, physiology and sexual determination of dipterans; (5) Molecular ecology, speciation and adaptation of insects; (6) Genome-editing and genetic engineering.
