Physics degree from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (1984), Master in Physics from the Universidade de São Paulo (1986) and doctorate (PhD) in solid state physics from the Université Paris-Sud (1990). Senior researcher at the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), which is part ot the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM). Has experience in condensed matter physics, scientific instrumentation and material science, with focus on magnetic and photovoltaic materials, and synchrotron light techniques like x-ray absorption spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction and X-ray microscopy.
