Senior Professor since 2005, Associate Professor (1995-2005), Professor Doctor (1979-1995) and other teaching and research categories (1973-1995) at the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo, acting as Researcher and as University Professor, focused on the studies of structural and dynamic properties of the insulating and semiconducting glasses. Using the spectroscopical techniques of electron paramagnetic resonance, optical absorption, thermoluminescence, fluorescence and by means of the results interpretation, some models were developed in order to explain the processes involved with the trapping and recombination of the charge carriers on irradiation and thermal treatments. Microwave absorption and dispersion measurements, and impedance spectroscopy, were used to describe the contribution of local electrical dipoles to the dielectric constant in glasses. Recently, the activities included the ferromagnetic resonance studeis of the magnetic nanoparticles used as probes in the functional nuclear magnetic resonance applications. Studies involving the synthesis, characterization and physical and chemical properties of nanostructured materials were also performed, using X-ray difracton, optical absorption and transmission electron microscopy.
