Specifically, studies the pathogenesis of periodontal disease and the effect of systemic conditions or modulatory therapies on the immune and inflammatory host responses. Another area of interest is the study of the role of protease activated receptors type 1 and type 2 (PAR1 and PAR2) on periodontal regeneration and destruction.
