My interests lie in Entropic and Bayesian inference and Statistical Mechanics methods applied to information processing systems. Theory and simulations of agent systems with applications to the study of societies, evolution and economy. Development of methods for the identification of active areas using fMRI and EEG. Learning dynamics in realistic and artificial neural networks, modelling of primary sensory systems, data analysis in bioinformatics. B.Sc. in Physics (1978) from the Universidade Estadalde Campinas (Unicamp) and Ph.D. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology - Caltech (1984). Currently, Professor at the Instituto de Física da Universidade de São Paulo (2001) and coordinator of the Núcleo de Apoio à Pesquisa CNAIPS da USP dedicated to the study of information processing systems.
