I hold a degree in Portuguese-English Language and Literature from the Federal University of Paraná (1982), a master's degree in Linguistics from the State University of Campinas (1988), a doctorate in Linguistics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven - Belgium (1995), and a ''livre-docência'' degree in Historical Linguistics from the São Paulo State University (Unesp) (2025). Between 2014 and 2015. I completed a post-doctoral internship, as a visiting professor, at the Sociolinguistics Laboratory, at University of Ottawa, Canada. Currently, I am an associate professor at the São Paulo State University (Unesp). My experience in Linguistics lies especially in the fields of Sociolinguistics, Historical Linguistics, and Historical Sociolinguistics My main research topics and interests include Brazilian Portuguese; processes of variation and change related to verbal morphology, morphosyntax (agreement), and syntax (word order, predication, complementation); Correlations between text genre, style, norm(s), identity, and linguistic variation/change.I am leader of SOLAR - Research Group in Sociolinguistics - Unesp - UFSCar (CNPq), together with Caroline Biazolli.
