B.S. in Chemistry (IQ-UNESP, 1973), Ph.D. in Chemistry (IQ-USP, 1978), he was admitted to the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo in 1978 and since 1992 he is a full professor. Research interests of his group embrace invention, development, miniaturization, automation and application of analytical devices, systems and methods, in special electroanalytical, electrophoretic and spectroeletroanalytical flow systems, also aiming the integration of sampling, accumulation, photocatalytic sample treatment, separation and detection in total analysis systems. He authored and has already distributed over 200 thousand copies of the software CurTiPot. He has wide academic and administrative experience and has also been a frequent speaker, presenting seminars, keynote and plenary lectures mainly at conferences on analytical chemistry and electroanalytical chemistry. He is a Fellow of IUPAC, member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences, and Commander of the National Order of Scientific Merit (MCT-Brazil).
