Degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from the Shool of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto / University of São Paulo (USP-RP) (1984); degree in Industrial Pharmacy from the Shool of Pharmaceutical Sciences / Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUC-CAMPINAS) (1985); Master of Science in Food Technology from the Faculty of Food Engineering / State University of Campinas (Unicamp) (1996) and PhD with a focus on Analytical Chemistry by the Institute of Chemistry / State University of Campinas ( Unicamp) (2002). Works as a lecturer at the University of Sorocaba (Uniso) in the Course of Pharmaceutical Sciences and by the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences of Uniso (PPGCF-Uniso). Member of the PPGCF-Uniso research line "Evaluation of bioactive substances and drug delivery systems". In this line of research has developed projects related to: physical-chemical quality control of drugs and medicines; optimization of pharmaceutical formulations; drug delivery systems and structural and functional stabilization of protein entities. The aim of this work is the development of a quantitative spectrophotometric method for the determination of metformin. The method will be based on the reaction between metformin and copper ions in basic medium to give a colored complex.
