Holds a Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. in Geography from São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp). Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), in Paris, from September 2004 to July 2005. Currently serves as Full Professor in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Geography at Unesp, Presidente Prudente campus (São Paulo, Brazil), and as President of the Vunesp Foundation. Researcher at the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Productivity Fellow PQ-2. His academic work focuses on Agrarian Geography and Regional Geography, with research interests in development, agriculture, public policies, short food supply chains, urban and peri-urban agriculture, and agro-industrial systems.
