Elisabeth Brait (Signature Beth Brait) is a critic, essayist, associate professor at PUC-SP, working in the Postgraduate Programs at LAEL and LCL; retired from the University of São Paulo/USP. Graduated in Literature, PhD and Professorship in Linguistics/USP; postdoctoral/École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales/EHESS/Paris/France. She is a level 1A researcher at CNPq; Advisor to CAPES/, CNPq/National Council for Scientific and Technological Development and FAPESP/São Paulo State Research Support Foundation; leader of the Research Group/CNPq/PUC-SP Language, Identity and Memory; member of the Working Group/ANPOLL Bakhtinian Studies; creator and editor of Bakhtiniana. Journal of Discourse Studies (QUALIS A1/SciELO/Scopus/Web of Science). She was a visiting professor at the Université de Provence - IUFM-ADEF, UP-IUFM-INRP/França (2005) and at the Federal University of Bahia/UFBA/Brazil (2000/2001). She was a militant literature critic for Jornal da Tarde and other São Paulo periodicals. Among the academic-administrative activities, the following stand out: Head of the Department of Linguistics/DL/FFLCH/USP (1994-1997); Coordinator of the PPG in Applied Linguistics and Language Studies/LAEL-PUC-SP (2001-2009); President of ANPOLL/ National Association of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Literature and Linguistics (2004-2006); Member of the CNPq Advisory Committee/Literature and Linguistics Area (2010-2013); Member of the SciELO/ Advisory Committee, representative of the Literature, Linguistics and Arts Area (2013-2016); Moderator/SciELO of preprints, Linguistics area (since 2020). Among the editorial activities, the following stand out: participation in several editorial boards and commissions of scientific journals, coordination of collections at Atual Editora, Escolas Associadas Pueri Domus and, currently, with Prof. Dr. Jean Carlos Gonçalves/UFPR, Director of the LICORES collection (Language, Body, Aesthetics)/HUCITEC. She is the author of several works, including The Character (revised and expanded edition/2017), Irony in polyphonic perspective, Literature and other languages; organizer of several collections on Bakhtin and the Circle Bakhtin, dialogism and construction of meaning; Bakhtin and the Circle; Bakhtin, dialogism and polyphony; Bakhtin: key concepts; Bakhtin: other key concepts; Bakhtin and the arts of the body (co-authored with Jean Carlos Gonçalves); in addition to articles and book chapters.
