Professor of "Sugarcane production planning and cultivation of sugar cane" in ESALQ / USP, former Executive Coordinator (CEO) of Brazilian Center for Biofuels (2008-2009), undergraduate in agronomy engeneering at Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (1977), MSc (1991) and PhD (1994) in Agronomy at Universidade de São Paulo. Worked in CTC (Copersucar from 1978 to 1982 and 1983 to 1987), USDA (1982) and Santa Helena e Bom Jesus Mills (1987 to 1989). Is a actual member of Science and Technology Council of Piracicaba as President from 2005 to 2009, and participated of the Editorial Council of Visão Agricola, periodic of ESALQ/USP. Founder and Coordinator of the extension group GECA (Group of studies in sugar cane) at ESALQ/USP since 2006, member of tematic research groups in sugar cane and since 2011 as invited researcher at CTBE (BioEthanol Technological Center). Has experience in Agronomy, acting on the following subjects: sugar cane business plan for sustainable cane and ethanol production, managenment optimization, sugar cane modelling, fertilization, production technology, sustainability of production, biometrics methodologies, and other related issues concerning to sugar cane production in a sustainable way.
