Head of the Research Group on Applied Security (ReGrAS) at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Unicamp, Dr. Marco Aurelio Amaral Henriques is a tenured Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering and Automation at the same school in Unicamp (University of Campinas). His work involves teaching (graduate and undergraduate levels), research and extension projects since 1996, in the areas of information security and high-performance/distributed computing. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Juiz de Fora Federal University - MG - Brazil (1986), an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Chiba (National) University - Japan (1990), and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Chiba (National) University - Japan (1993). Before entering Unicamp, he worked as a researcher and Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (former Department of Information Engineering), Shinshu (National) University - Japan (1993 - 1996). Besides his academic activities at Unicamp, he worked also as coordinator of Computer Engineering undergraduate course, as head of the Department of Computer Engineering and Automation, as head of UnicampComputing Center (CCUEC) and as the Unicamp General Coordinator for the Communication and Information Technologies Office (CTIC, now renamed DETIC). He has been working on several projects with private and public institutions in the areas of applied security, applied cryptography, digital identity management, cryptographic protocols and distributed systems.
