Graduated in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1983). Laureate in Civil Engineering from the University of Padua, Italy (1986). Specialist in Plasma Engineering and Controlled Thermonuclear Fusion, University of Padua (1986). Master in Civil Engineering from EPUSP - Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (1992). PhD in Civil Engineering from EPUSP (1994). Full Professor in Theory of Structures at EPUSP (2003). He began his academic career at PEF - Department of Structural Engineering and Geotechnics at EPUSP in 1988. Assistant Professor (1992), PhD Professor (1994), Associate Professor (2003), Full Professor in Structural Systems (2022). He teaches several subjects alongside undergraduate courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Architecture and Urbanism, in the fields of Theory of Structures and Structural Systems. Professor at the PPGEC - Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo, offering courses on Lightweight Structures and Computational Mechanics. Supervisor of 16 Master's degrees and 3 Doctorates completed, within the area of Structures. Visiting Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University (2016), the Wroclaw University of Technology (2018) and the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of Padua (2018).Coordinator of the Interinstitutional Master's Program in Structural Engineering (Universities of São Paulo / University of Caxias do Sul, from 1997 to 2001). Member of the Coordination Committee of the EPUSP-FAUUSP Dual Training Program, (2013 to 2017). Member of several evaluation committees of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC).Creator and President of the I National Symposium on Tensostructures / I Latin American Symposium on Tensostructures (I SLTE, São Paulo, 2002). Vice-President of the II SLTE (Caracas, 2005). President of IASS/SLTE 2014 Symposium of the International Association for Shell and Space Structures / VI SLTE (Brasília, 2014). Member of the International Honorary Committees of the IASS 2015 and IASS 2017 Symposia. Member of several Organizational and Scientific Committees for events related to numerical methods, computational mechanics and tensile structures, shells and spatial structures. Plenary speaker at the Congress Structural Membranes 2015 (Barcelona).Member of the Executive Committee of IASS - International Association for Shell and Space Structures, since 2012.
