Degree in Literature from the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (1982), degree in Literature and Philosophy from the Universitá degli Studi di Pisa (1982). PhD in Storia dell'arte medievale e moderna from the Universitá degli Studi di Pisa (1990). He was a Full Professor of Art History at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin. He is a Professor of Art History in the Department of History and Aesthetics of the Project of the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP) and a Collaborating Professor in the Department of History of the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences of the State University of Campinas (IFCH Unicamp). He was Adjunct Curator of the São Paulo Museum of Art "Assis Chateaubriand" (MASP).
