Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná (1995), Master's degree in Neurosciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1998) and Doctorate in Medicine: Medical Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2001), Post-Doctorate at Yale University. She is an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at the Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM) - Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). She was Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Psychiatry and Medical Psychology at EPM-UNIFESP from 2013 to 2022.
