Full Professor at the University of São Paulo in the field of Portuguese-speaking African Literature. CNPq Research Productivity Scholar (level 1D), receiving successive grants since 2001. Researcher at the Center for Comparative Studies at the University of Lisbon, and collaborator at the Margarida Losa Institute of Comparative Literature at the University of Porto. Was Visiting Professor at the University of Lisbon (2013; 2019-2020; 2021-2022) and the University of Macau (2015-2016). Holds a degree in Letters (1989) and a specialization in Literary Theory (1989) from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, a master's degree (1993), and a Ph.D. (1997) in Literature at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He did a postdoctoral internship at the Faculty of Letters of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2002-2003) and at the Center for Comparative Studies at the University of Lisbon (2012-2013). He took part in the Habilitation competition, for the area of Portuguese -speaking African Literature, at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters, and Human Sciences at USP (2012). He was an Associate Professor at Federal Fluminense University, having worked in the areas of Portuguese Literature and Portuguese -speaking African Literature (1994-2007). In June 2001, with other researchers, he founded the Brazilian Association for the Study of Homoculture (ABEH). Has published books, and articles in specialized magazines and book chapters, in Brazil and abroad. Also, has experience in Literature, with an emphasis on Portuguese -speaking African Literature and Portuguese Literature, in the following subjects: Comparative Studies of Portuguese-speaking Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Cultural Studies, and Queer Studies.
