He holds a Bachelor's degree in Science (2005), a Master's (2006), and a Ph.D. (2010) in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), and earned a Livre-Docência (habilitation) in Remote Sensing from São Paulo State University (Unesp) in 2019. He is a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Natural Disasters (Unesp/Cemaden), where he supervises research in remote sensing, spatial analysis, and predictive modeling applied to extreme events.He leads the Research Group on Remote Sensing, Spatial Analysis, Environmental Modeling, and Natural Disasters, and participates in the following research groups: (1) Spatial Information Technology (Unesp/Presidente Prudente), (2) Atmospheric, Oceanic and Environmental Sciences (Unifei), (3) Satellite Ocean Monitoring MOceanS (INPE), and (4) Vegetation Responses to Drought and Fire Events (Unesp/São José dos Campos).He coordinated two international research projects in collaboration with the University of Georgia (USA) and the Plymouth Marine Laboratory (UK), and has contributed to 24 research projects, serving as principal investigator in 10 of them. He has published 142 scientific articles, with over 3,664 citations and an h-index of 30 (Google Scholar).He collaborates with researchers from leading international institutions, including the University of Georgia (USA), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), INRS Centre Eau Terre Environnement (Canada), Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (Germany), Institute of Earth Sciences Academia Sinica (Taiwan), Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (France), and the University of Girona (Spain).He has supervised 16 undergraduate research projects, 8 Master's theses, 6 Ph.D. dissertations, and 5 postdoctoral projects. He has been a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow since 2013 and serves as a reviewer for CNPq, FAPESP, and several international funding agencies.He is Associate Editor of Environmental Challenges (Elsevier), Frontiers in Remote Sensing Multi- and Hyper-Spectral Imaging (Frontiers), and GIScience and Remote Sensing (Taylor Francis).
