He holds a degree in Agronomy from the Federal University of Viçosa (1977), a master's degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Viçosa (1979) and a PhD in Agronomy from the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (1986). He is currently Visiting Professor at the Agricultural Engineering Department of the Federal University of Ceará - UFC and Professor Retired at the University of São Paulo, Campus Luiz de Queiroz. Was Head of the Department of Engineering of ESALQ / USP Biosystems in the periods 03/2003 to 03/2007 and 03/2011 to 03/2013. He was Coordinator of the Post-Graduation Program in Irrigation and Drainage of ESALQ / USP in the period 11/2002 to 11/2008. He is the Coordinator of the National Institute of Science and Technology in Irrigation Engineering (INCT-EI), headquartered at ESALQ / USP and leader of the Research Group of CNPq called: Metrology, Standardization and Quality in Irrigation and Drainage. Coordinated the Irrigation Advisory Service Project - SAI, a project executed in the Baixo Acarau-CE Irrigation District. He has experience in the area of Agronomy, with emphasis on Irrigation, acting mainly on the following topics: irrigation management, irrigation system hydraulics, water use optimization, evapotranspiration, fertirrigation and simulation.
