Nadya Araujo Guimarães got her PhD at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (1983); post-doctoral studies at the Special Program on Urban and Regional Studies (SPURS) Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1993-1994). Teaching experience in different universities (Federal Universities of Brasília and Bahia, in Brazil, and Princeton University in the US). She is Chair Professor (Titular) at Sociology Department, University of São Paulo (1999 on) and senior researcher (I-A, CNPq) associated to the Center for Metropolitan Studies; Director of the National Institute for Metropolitan Studies (CNPq/MCT, 2009-2012). She is Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (since 2016). Research lines: economic restructuring and workers occupational trajectories; ; gender and race inequalities at the workplace; comparative studies on unemployment (trajectories and experiences) in large metropolises (São Paulo, Paris and Tokyo); job search, social networks and labor market intermediaries; care and careworkers in comparative perspective. National and international cooperation: She acted as visiting researcher in different institutions and countries (Cambridge University/CLAS; Univ. Warwick/IER, Univ. Oxford/CBS, Freie Universität Berlin/DesiguALdades, UCLA, Princeton/PIIRS, Univ. Versailles/Printemps, among others). She was associate researcher at the Institut de Recherche pour Le Développement (France, 1989-1991); Institute for Employment Research da University of Warwick, (UK, 1999-2001), and is research fellow at the IER/Univ. of Warwick and Laboratoire GTM-Genre Travail et Mobilités (CNRS,France). She has already coordinated international cooperation projects joining Brazilian researchers and research groups in the UK (CNPq/British Council Program: Cebrap, Iuperj, IFCS Univ. Warwick, LSE, Univ West of England) and in France (CNPq/CNRS: Cebrap, USP GTM/CNRS, Printemps/Univ Versailles, IAO/Univ.Lyon). (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
