Universidade de São Paulo (USP). Escola Politécnica (EP)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

He graduated in Electronic Engineering in 1981 at the Centro Universitário da FEI. He started his activities in microelectronics in 1982 at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo where he became Master (1984), Doctor (1988) and Associate Professor (1998) in Electrical Engineering (Microelectronics). The postdoctoral work was carried out in cooperation between Imec (Interuniversity Microelectronic Center) at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and the University of São Paulo. He was Full Professor, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department and Coordinator of the Electrical Engineering Courses (Electronics, Computers and Telecommunications) at the FEI University Center from 1996 to 2005.He has been a Professor at the Escola Politécnica since 1992 and became Full Professor at the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (PSI) at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (EPUSP) in 2005. He was the Head of the PSI/EPUSP Dept (2009-2013) and Deputy Chief (2007-2009). He was a Guest Professor at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 2003, 2008 and 2016. He is the coordinator of the Laboratory of Integrated Systems (LSI) of the Polytechnic School of USP in 2017. He is the coordinator of the postgraduate program in Electrical Engineering at EPUSP since 2019.Introduced the study of SOI devices in Brazil since 1990. Guided the proposal of a new SOI transistor (GC SOI MOSFET) for analog applications in 2000. Coordinated the proposal/manufacture/patent of a new reconfigurable planar SOI MOSFET transistor (RFET) called Back Enhanced (BE) SOI MOSFET in 2015 at USP. The architecture of the BE SOI MOSFET has also allowed its use as a sensor (light sensor) and biosensor (Bio-FET). He coordinated and participated in the team that manufactured the first electron beam SOI FinFET transistor in Brazil in 2012.His current field of research in integrated circuits includes fabrication, electrical characterization and modeling of devices obtained by SOI planar and multi-port CMOS technologies (FinFET, nanowire and nanosheet), Tunnel-FET and Bio-FET. The application of advanced transistors in the development of basic analog circuits has also been the subject of research. He is co-author/co-editor of 10 books/annals. He has authored and co-authored more than 600 publications (with more than 150 full-length articles published in journals and more than 450 full-length articles presented at conferences). He completed the supervision of 70 graduate students, 39 masters and 22 PhDs as main supervisor and 7 masters and 2 PhDs as co-supervisor.He is Senior Member of the IEEE and President of the Electron Devices Society (EDS) Chapter of the IEEE South Brazil Section since 2007. He has become a Distinguished Lecturer of the EDS-IEEE since 2008. He is a Level 1A researcher at CNPq. He was coordinator of the São Paulo Training Center (CT-SP) for training integrated circuit designers for the CI-Brasil program at the Escola Politécnica da USP from 2014 to 2020. He was elected and participated in the CNPq microelectronics advisory committee (CA- ME) from 2015 to 2021. He became an Honorary Professor at Hangzhou Dianzi University, China, in 2014. He received the Padre Roberto Landell de Moura Award in 2016 from the Brazilian Society of Microelectronics. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
