Obtained his Licenciado in Physics from Universidad de Buenos Aires (1976) and his Ph.D. in Physics from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp, 1984). He was viting researcher at AT&T Bell Labs (Holmdel, NJ, 1987-1989). Presently he is Full Professor at Presbyterian University Mackenzie and collaborator at University of Campinas (Unicamp), Coordinator of the National Institute of Photonics Science and Technology for Optical Communications (INCT Fotonicom), and member of Physics committee at Fapesp. He served as Director of the Optics and Photonics Research Center at Unicamp (CEPID CePOF-Unicamp), Coordinator of the KyaTera Project, and member of the program committee of Fapesp's Infomation Technologies for the Advance of the Internet (TIDIA). He is member of the OSA ? Optical Society of America, the IEEE Photonics Society, and the Brazilian Physics Society. Prof. Fragnito works in the fields of nonlinear optics in fibers and waveguides, parametric devices, optical amplifiers, photonic crystal fibers, photon-phonon interactions in fibers, wavelength converters, optical Internet, and high capacity optical networks.
