Amanda was an undergraduate student at Federal University of Uberlândia (2008), with Bachelor and License's degree on Biological Sciences, where she developed research on limnology and ecology of the macrofauna associated to Sargassum. She has a PhD in Zoology from University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has developed short term research interships at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, during her PhD and at Massey University, New Zealand, during her post-doc. She is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Animal Biology, Federal University of Viçosa. She has experience with molecular systematics and morphometrics, developing her research on taxonomy, systematics, morphological variability and evolution of hydroids (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa).
