He obtained the Bachelor's and Electrical Engineering degrees from the National University of San Agustin (UNSA) in Arequipa, Peru, in 2002. Continuing his academic journey, he earned the Master's and Doctoral degrees in Electrical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in 2006 and 2011, respectively. During the period from October 2009 to June 2010, he served as a visiting researcher at the University of Padova, Italy. Subsequently, from November 2013 to January 2014, he conducted a research internship in intelligent distribution systems at the University of Nottingham. Between April 2018 and March 2019, he served as a visiting professor at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO, United States. Since 2011, he has been a professor at the São Paulo State University (UNESP) in the Institute of Science and Technology of Sorocaba (ICTS). Additionally, he held the position of President of the Internal Commission for Energy Conservation at ICTS from June 2013 to December 2019. Currently, he is an Associate Professor (Livre-docente, MS 5.3) at UNESP/ICTS. He also works as a collaborating professor at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) since 2012. He has actively participated as a coordinator or member of various research and technological development projects, funded by funding agencies or companies. With over 160 publications in national and international journals and conferences, he supervises doctoral theses, master's dissertations, undergraduate research projects, and postdoctoral research. His main research areas include the analysis and definitions of power terms and compensation techniques under non-sinusoidal and/or unbalanced conditions. Moreover, he focuses on the analysis and conditioning of power quality through local and/or cooperative control of power electronic converters. His studies also encompass aspects of tariffing and responsibility assignment, integration of distributed energy resources in smart grid environments. He is member of the Brazilian Society of Automation (SBA), and the Brazilian Society of Power Electronics (SOBRAEP), he was honored with the "Prize Paper Award in the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics" in 2012 and received two consecutive awards for the best paper from the Brazilian Society of Power Quality in 2021 and 2023.
