Abstract | |
The research, linked to the thematic project \"Architecture and urbanism, adressing the social space in the 21st century: segregation strategies and appropriation tactics\", deals with the relation of urban legislation and the urban form of the city of São Paulo. To this end, the objects of study are laws that directly affect the shape and insertion of the building in the lot, especially after the 1970s. The 1971 Strategic Master Plan and the 1972 General Zoning Law marked the production of the isolated building in the lot typology, preventing the continuous connexion between building and city and contributing to the progressive inhibition of mixed uses in the lot. Such morphology, considered harmful to urban dynamics, lasted through urban legislation until 2014. In 2014 and 2016, the Strategic Master Plan and its subsequent Land Installment, Use and Occupation Law were enacted, laws that implemented incentives for the active façade, a guideline that prefigures objection to the typology of the isolated building in the lot. Since the Laws after the 2014 Strategic Master Plan are considered to format a new paradigm in spatial production, the study aims to understand to what extent the shape of the architectural object, conditioned by legal parameters, can be considered or not an advance from the point of view. of a heterogeneous and non-segregating city, given the recognition that such instruments, especially from the perspective of urban morphology, directly influence the quality of the city\'s spaces.
