Resumo

A fenologia é o estudo da época de ocorrência de eventos biológicos repetitivos e sua relação com o clima. Muitos processos fenológicos, como a queda de folhas e a floração, estão claramente relacionados ao clima e, portanto, é esperado que a época de ocorrência de processos fenológicos continue a mudar na dependência das mudanças no clima. A informação fenológica de ambientes tropicais tem sido usada no estudo de interações planta-animal que afetam a polinização, dispersão e predação de sementes. Pesquisas sobre a fragmentação tropical e o seu impacto na fenologia necessitam ser executadas a fim de se conhecer os efeitos desse impacto sobre as comunidades de fauna e flora, visando criar melhores estratégias de conservação que assegurem a proteção da biota tropical. O acompanhamento fenológico é deste modo, um componente essencial dos programas de monitoramento de mudanças climáticas globais e para o planejamento de estratégias de conservação. O seu valor como indicador aumenta ainda mais porque mudanças em processos fenológicos têm amplas consequências para biodiversidade, ecologia e interações bióticas, agricultura e ciências florestais, entre outras. Esta proposta tem por objetivo conhecer os padrões na diversidade, estrutura e composição e definir os padrões sazonais reprodutivos das floras do campo rupestre quartzítico e ferruginoso da Serra do Espinhaço (em Minas Gerais) e vegetação de cerrado (São Paulo) e sua sensibilidade ao clima e outros fatores ambientais e bióticos.
