Resumo

O objetivo principal de nosso programa de pesquisa é desenvolver formalismos e cálculos que descrevem, em primeiro lugar, a estrutura e reações de núcleos exóticos. Características singulares destes núcleos são sua baixa energia de ligação e sua estrutura não homogênea de caroço - halo ou de aglomerados menores. Tais propriedades são especialmente importantes em reações, onde a dissociação do núcleo exótico em constituintes menores se torna um dos canais de reação mais importantes. Para descrever a estrutura e reações destes núcleos, este grupo de pesquisadores se dedica a estudar modelos e métodos (numéricos e analíticos) aplicáveis tanto à Física de muitos corpos de núcleos e partículas quanto a de átomos. Entre os fenômenos estudados pela equipe são: as propriedades de aglomerados (clusters) nucleares e as correlações entre quarks e/ou núcleons esperados em matéria nuclear e observados em núcleos finitos e em reações nucleares envolvendo núcleos exóticos ou núcleos altamente excitados. Os modelos que são desenvolvidos têm como objetivo a reprodução de resultados experimentais e, dessa forma, a compreensão e/ou verificação das leis básicas da natureza obedecidas pelos sistemas sendo estudado. Os métodos analíticos e numéricos utilizados, e muitas vezes desenvolvidos pelo próprio grupo, contemplam técnicas para se resolver as equações dinâmicas (relativísticas e não - relativísticas) que se aplicam aos modelos em estudo.
