Resumo

A fragmentação de habitats é uma das principais causas de declínios populacionais e extinção de espécies na atualidade. Dentre os grupos animais mais afetados com este impacto estão os predadores e os parasitas. Contudo, os efeitos da fragmentação de hábitat sobre a dinâmica da relação parasito-hospedeiro têm recebido relativamente pouca atenção. As comunidades de helmintos associados a anfíbios e répteis são geralmente caracterizadas pela baixa riqueza de espécies. No entanto, características do hábitat e da comunidade local de hospedeiros podem afetar a composição e estrutura das comunidades componentes de helmintos. Fatores como a especificidade do parasita ao hospedeiro e a distância geográfica entre as populações de hospedeiros contribuem para a composição e estrutura das comunidades de helmintos associados aos anfíbios. Adicionalmente, em estudos de fauna de helmintos associadas às diversas espécies de hospedeiros também é preciso levar em conta as relações filogenéticas entre as espécies de hospedeiros. Os objetivos principais deste projeto são: (1) descrever e caracterizar a composição e estrutura das comunidades componentes de helmintos associados aos anfíbios em uma região de Mata Atlântica; (2) avaliar a especificidade das interações parasito-hospedeiro, e (3) avaliar a influência da fragmentação de hábitat na composição das supra comunidades de helmintos associados.
