Edmilson Ozorio dos Santos

Physician and Doctor of Science (MD, PhD), holding a Medical Degree from the University of São Paulo, with training in Emergency Medicine, including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS, American Heart Association certification), as well as training in Clinical Research and Health Services Management in Primary Health Care. Completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Butantan Institute, conducting research on the development of novel anticancer therapies based on the effects of FGF2-mediated mitogenic overstimulation in promoting cytotoxicity in KRAS-mediated tumor models. Holds both a PhD and a Masters degree in Biochemistry from the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo, with research focused on the Molecular Biology of Cancer, having extensive experience in the development of targeted therapies based on the roles of Aurora kinases A and B in KRAS-driven lung cancer. Conducted international research as a visiting PhD student at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche in collaboration with Università degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza, Italy, where performed advanced research on targeted therapeutic strategies involving the Aurora A/TPX2 complex in KRAS-mediated tumorigenicity. Also holds a Bachelors degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from Oswaldo Cruz University. At the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo, has provided academic tutoring to undergraduate and graduate students in Advanced Biochemistry, Experimental Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology, and has teaching experience in Pharmacological Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. Has also accumulated extensive research experience in Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences through the Department of Legal Medicine, Bioethics, Occupational Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the University of São Paulo, with research focused on nationwide cross-sectional studies on intimate partner violence and sexual assault, integrating forensic, medical, and ethical perspectives. Finally, served as a Scientific Medical Communication Analyst at Oncofarma Oncology Pharmaceuticals, with extensive experience in delivering evidence-based medical information and regulatory- and compliance-aligned scientific communication.
