Alvaro Gabriel Bianchi Mendez

Full Professor of Political Science and Head of the Laboratory of Political Thought (Pepol) at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp, Brazil). Research Associate at the National Institute of Science and Technology for Studies on the United States (INCT-Ineu) and Level 2 Research Productivity Scholar at CNPq. Masters degree in Sociology (2000) and Ph.D. in Social Sciences (2004) from Unicamp. Visiting research appointments at Columbia University, Fondazione Gramsci, Brunel University and Università per Stranieri di Perugia. Member of the Coordinating Committee of the International Gramsci Society, editorial board of the International Gramsci Journal, and Scientific Committees for the Marx 21 and Per Gramsci collections. Research focus on Political Science, with emphasis on the history of Italian and Brazilian political thought and the development of Political Science as a field.
