possui graduação em Farmácia pela Faculdade de Farmácia e Bioquímica do Espirito Santo (1976), mestrado em Química pelo Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1979) e doutorado em Química pelo Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1983). Atualmente é pesquisador - Embrapa Instrumentação Agropecuária. Tem experiência na área de biofísica e bioquímica, com enfase em técnicas espectroscópicas de Ressonancia Magnética Nuclear (RMN) e na região do Infravermelho com Transformada de Fourier (FTIR), atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: alimentos, biodiesel, microbiologia agrícola e produtos agrícolas em geral.
