Solimary García Hernández

I was born in Colombia, where I completed my undergraduate degree in biology. From the very beginning of my career, I developed a passion for behavioral ecology, particularly in the areas of sexual selection, parental care, and defensive behaviors of arthropods. During my master's thesis at the Department of Ecology at the University of São Paulo (USP), I conducted research on the variation in sexual dimorphism among populations of earwigs (Dermaptera). I also investigated how changes in diet during development influence the degree of sexual dimorphism in adult earwigs.In my Ph.D., also at USP, I focused on scorpions of the genus Ananteris (Buthidae) and studied the sexual differences in the implications of "tail" autotomy (yes, they lose their sting and anus!) on locomotion, reproduction, and foraging. I also have a strong interest in Opiliones, which serve as a fantastic model for studying aspects of sexual selection and parental care.Recently, I've had the opportunity to work as a Data Scientist, further expanding my skills in data analysis and data visualization.
