Jorge Kennety Silva Formiga

I hold a Degree in Mathematics (2003) from the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), a Masters degree in Physics (2005), with an emphasis on Orbital Dynamics, from São Paulo State University (UNESP/FEG), and a Ph.D. in Space Engineering and Technology (2009) from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), in the field of Space Mechanics and Control. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the same field at INPE between 2010 and 2013, and in 2022 I obtained the title of Associate Professor (Livre-Docente Habilitation) in Applied Mathematics to Engineering from the Institute of Science and Technology of UNESP (ICT/UNESP). My research focuses on mathematical modeling, orbital maneuvers, orbital resonances, normal forms, the three-body problem, and space debris. Throughout my academic career, I have served as a scholarship professor at the Department of Mathematics at UNESP/FEG (20062007), Level II Professor at FATEC São José dos Campos (20082016), Coordinator of the Aeronautical Engineering Program at ETEP College (20142015), Vice-Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering Department at ICT/UNESP (20202021), and Head of the same department (20212024), and I will assume this position again starting in 2026. I am currently an Associate Professor III at the Institute of Science and Technology of UNESP, where I carry out teaching, research, and outreach activities in Applied Mathematics, Orbital Maneuvers, and Space Debris, and since 2016 I have been a permanent faculty member of the Professional Masters Program in Science and Technology Applied to Dentistry at UNESP, São José dos Campos campus (SP).
