Professor Titular-Livre do Departamento de Engenharia de Materiais da Universidade Federal do Piauí. É bacharel em Engenharia Biomédica e doutor em Ciências pelo Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica. Obteve o pós-doutoramento em Bioengenharia na Harvard Medical School e Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology) finalizado em 2017. Possui experiência didático-científica na área de Engenharia de Materiais e Biomédica. Atua diretamente no desenvolvimento de biomateriais biomiméticos e bioinspirados aplicados a engenharia tecidual e nanomedicina. Atualmente é bolsista de Produtividade em pesquisa nível 2 do CNPq. Possui mais de 100 artigos indexados em revistas de seletiva política editorial, mais de 2100 citações e índice H=22. Coordenou e cooordena diversos projetos como Pesquisador Principal nos principais órgãos de fomento do Brasil, tais como: FINEP, FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES e SERRAPILHEIRA. Revisor de agencias de fomentos nacionais e internacionais, tais como Fapesp, CNPq e Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. É editor chefe associado de dois periódicos internacionais classificados como A1 na Capes, sendo eles: International Journal of Nanomedicine e Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, sendo ambos um dos principais periódicos na área de Nanomedicina e Nanobiomateriais.
