Prof. Dr. Mohammad Masoumi, currently associated with Universidade Federal do ABC in Brazil, has a diverse research background with a significant focus on Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Having earned his PhD from the Universidade Federal do Ceara in Brazil in 2017, his research interests include understanding the impact of crystallographic orientations on hydrogen-induced cracking resistance, studying texture and grain boundaries in high-strength steel, and enhancing wear resistance via quenching and partitioning processing. His research pursuits also encompass the influence of crystallographic orientation and microstructure in fatigue crack failure analysis, damping behavior of composite materials, interface characterization, formability of composite sheets, and more. He has made significant contributions to the field by examining the degradation of Hadfield steel components and improving wear resistance in hypereutectoid rail. As a professor at the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), São Paulo, Brazil, he has a wide range of teaching experience in areas such as Fundamentals of Metallurgy, Processing and Metal Forming, Steelmaking and Engineering of Steels, Experimental Methods in Engineering, Selection of Materials, and more. His extensive industrial and academic experience in physical metallurgy, phase transformation, and macro-and microtexture allows him to potentially spearhead a future group focusing on a broad spectrum of Fe- Cr- Mn- Si- Mo- Nb- grade materials.
