Graduada em Engenharia de Alimentos pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) e doutora em Tecnologia de Alimentos pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP). Professora titular da Faculdade de Zootecnia e Engenharia de Alimentos (FZEA) da Universidade de São Paulo (USP), onde ministra aulas para o curso de graduação em Engenharia de Alimentos, o qual coordenou de 09/2008 a 04/2012. Orienta no curso de pós-graduação em Eng. de Alimentos da USP desde que este foi criado, em 2009. Presidiu as Comissões de Graduação, de 04/2012 a 04/2016, e de Pesquisa da FZEA/USP, de 06/2016 a 08/2017. Também foi pesquisadora visitante na Purdue University, em 2018. Atualmente é Pró-Reitora Adjunta de Pesquisa da USP. Tem experiência em pesquisa na área de Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos, com ênfase em microencapsulação e produção de partículas orgânicas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: microencapsulação de ingredientes alimentícios e compostos bioativos, tais como probióticos, pigmentos, extratos vegetais, própolis, hidrolisados proteicos, ácido ascórbico e edulcorantes.
