She holds a degree in Physical Therapy from the Universidade Católica Dom Bosco (1999), a Masters (2005) and a Ph.D. (2008) in Physiology from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo (USP). In 2007, she completed a doctoral fellowship in the United States at Dartmouth College, where she also conducted postdoctoral research (20082009). She later carried out postdoctoral training at the Department of Physiology, FMRP/USP (20092010), and more recently was a Visiting Professor at the University of Connecticut (UConn), United States. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Structural and Functional Biology (Physiology), IBB, São Paulo State University (UNESP), Botucatu. Her research focuses on the neural control of breathing in mammals, with emphasis on ventilatory responses to hypercapnia and hypoxia. Mother of Victor and Pedro. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
