Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences (Bachelors and Teaching Certification) from the University of Mogi das Cruzes (2003) and have since become a dedicated researcher in Marine Zoology, specializing in Cnidaria (sea anemones, corals, and jellyfish). My advanced education includes a Masters (2006) and a Ph.D. (2012) in Biological Sciences (Zoology) from the University of São Paulo (USP), as well as a postdoctoral fellowship also at USP (2013). In 2020, I earned the title of Livre-Docente (Habilitation) from São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP).I had the opportunity to work internationally for two years (20062008) at the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS), one of the worlds largest marine biodiversity databases. My research focuses on taxonomy, systematics, evolution, phylogeography, life cycles of cnidarians, DNA barcoding, and eDNA (environmental DNA), contributing to the advancement of knowledge on marine biodiversity and ecology.Currently, I serve as an Associate Professor (MS5.3 - RDIDP) at UNESP, Faculty of Sciences, Bauru, where I supervise students in the graduate programs in Biological Sciences (Zoology - UNESP/IBB-Botucatu) and Biosciences (UNESP - Interunits). I am a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow - Level 2.Additionally, I act as an editor for scientific journals (e.g., PLOS ONE, Aquatic Ecology) and as a reviewer for various national and international funding agencies. With a multidisciplinary profile, I integrate traditional zoological approaches with innovative molecular techniques, aiming to advance marine conservation and biodiversity understanding in a context of global change.
