JOEL MESA HORMAZA (J. MESA) COMPLETED HIS PH.D. IN PHYSICS AT THE INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS, UNIVERSITY OF SÃO PAULO, IN 2001. HE IS CURRENTLY AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS AND BIOPHYSICS AT THE INSTITUTE OF BIOSCIENCES, BOTUCATU, WHERE HE TEACHES UNDERGRADUATE COURSES IN MEDICAL PHYSICS AND MEDICINE. HE HAS PARTICIPATED IN THE PUBLICATION OF MORE THAN 40 ARTICLES IN SPECIALIZED JOURNALS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF 6 TECHNOLOGICAL PRODUCTS. HE CURRENTLY LEADS 3 INNOVATIVE RESEARCH PROJECTS IN THE FIELDS OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS, DATA ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES, AND BIOMEDICAL SIGNAL PROCESSING, WITH A FOCUS ON APPLICATIONS IN MEDICAL PHYSICS AND VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIES. HIS RESEARCH ENCOMPASSES THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN NUCLEAR PHYSICS, DATA ANALYSIS TECHNOLOGIES, AND BIOMEDICAL SIGNAL PROCESSING, WITH A STRONG FOCUS ON THE APPLICATION OF COMPUTATIONAL MODELS AND MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE DIAGNOSTICS AND THERAPIES IN MEDICAL PHYSICS AND BIOTECHNOLOGY.
