Birthplace: Brazil

Visiting Professor at the University of Birmingham (2025), with a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of São Paulo (2005) and postdoctoral experience at KU Leuven, University of Coimbra, and IQSCUSP. Associate Professor at UNESP since 2006, working in Environmental Engineering with a focus on water treatment (coagulation/flocculation and solidliquid separation) and sustainable urban drainage. He has held visiting positions at University College London, University of Birmingham, and NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, and has supervised numerous Masters and PhD students in Brazil and Portugal. From 2010 to 2022, he coordinated the Laboratory for Water and Wastewater Treatment and Reuse (LATARE). Former Editor-in-Chief of Revista ESA (20172022) and founding Editor-in-Chief of CTESA (2021), he also serves on the editorial board of Scientific Reports (Nature). With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, his research is developed in collaboration with leading institutions in Brazil and Europe, advancing sustainable water and drainage solutions.
