Has a degree in Mathematics and a Master's in Applied Computational Mathematics, emphasizing numerical analysis. He completed his doctorate in Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos in 1999. He completed postdoctoral and Research internships in Theoretical Chemistry groups at Universities in Spain and Italy. He is a Professor at the Mathematics Department of São Paulo State University (UNESP) and a CNPq Researcher (PQ1). He served as the Scientific Director of the Brazilian Material Society from 2014 to 2016. He performed as a reviewer for more than 45 international specialized journals and three national ones, and as an advisor to scientific agencies in Brazil and abroad. He primarily works in the field of Materials Engineering, with a focus on Modeling and computational simulation of ceramic materials. His work focuses on the electronic and structural properties of solids, surfaces, and oxide nanotubes, as well as adsorption processes, doping, and modeling surface reactions.
