Pedro de Magalhães Padilha

He holds a degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (1988) and a PhD in the Graduate Program in Chemistry from the Unesp Institute of Chemistry, Araraquara Campus (1993). He is a Full Professor at the Institute of Biosciences-Dept. of Chemical and Biological Sciences/UNESP-Botucatu/SP and CNPq 1C Productivity Scholar. He works as a professor/advisor in the Graduate Program in General and Applied Biology and Biotechnology at the Biosciences Institute / UNESP-Câmpus de Botucatu and in the Graduate Program in Animal Science at FMVZ / UNESP-Botucatu. He is an advisor to several national and international funding agencies and referee of the main national and international journals in analytical chemistry, bioanalytical, biotechnology and food. As an internationalization action, he coordinates the International Research Network: Omics Studies Applied in Animal Health and Nutrition-Project CAPES-Print (Institutional Internationalization Program). Among the studies carried out by this Research Network, the identification of biomarkers of mercury contamination/exposure in Amazonian fish stands out, which enabled Empresa Energia Sustentável do Brasil (one of the funding agencies the research) to receive the Brasil Ambiental award from American Chamber of Commerce of Rio de Janeiro (AmCham Rio), 2017 edition, in the innovation category. He works in the research line in bioanalytical and metallomics/proteomics applied to biological samples and in human/animal nutrition and health. In this research line, he has excelled in the biomarkers identification of toxic, potentially toxic and essential metals/metalloids, having coordinated several scientific projects and interacting with Brazilian and foreign researchers.
