Graduate in Physics at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (1985), Master's degree (Diplom) in Physics/Astronomy at the Eberhard Karls University of Tuebingen (1987), and Ph.D. in Solid State Physics at the Leibniz University of Hannover (1993), Germany. Pos-Doc at the Institute of Advanced Materials of the Joint Research Centre of the European Community (JRC) in Ispra, Italy (1993 -1996). Visiting Scientist at the Laboratory of Photovoltaic Conversion at the State University of Campinas (IFGW/UNICAMP), Brazil (1996 - 2000). Since 2001 Visiting Professor/Collaborating Professor and currently Researcher II and Professor of the São Paulo State University - UNESP, head of the Laboratory of Photoelectron Spectroscopy (LEFE), at the Institute of Chemistry IQ/UNESP, Brazil. The areas of expertise are physics and physical chemistry, with emphasis on Condensed Matter and Materials Science and Materials characterization by Photolectron Spectroscopy (XPS, UPS) and Ultra-High Vacuum Instrumentation. Other fields of expertise include structural, electronic, optical, electrical, and electrochemical investigation of Amorphous and Wide Band Gap Semiconductors, Carbon Nanostructures, Nanostructured Carbon-Ceramic composites used as photocatalysts, and Organic-Inorganic Nanocomposite Coatings for bioactive protection of metallic implants. Currently, there are more than 5100 citations registered at SCOPUS with factor factor h = 44 of 149 publications.
