Valéria dos Santos Guimarães

Graduation in History (USP, 1994), PhD in Social History (USP, 2004), Habilitation Theses (Livre Docência) (UNESP, 2023), post-doc in Communication at PUC de São Paulo (COS-PUC-SP, FAPESP) and in Cultural History at the Centre d'histoire culturelle des sociétés contemporaines of the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (CHCSC-UVSQ, Bourse Hermès, FMSH), in which is associated researcher. Currently working as professor in undergraduate and graduate studies of Department of History of Faculty of Humanity and Social Sciences, UNESP, teaching classes History of Brazil, History of Reading and Theory of History. She is also a collaborating professor in the Graduate Program in Languages at the IBILCE, UNESP.I have coordinated project Young Researcher FAPESP (http://jfb.franca.unesp.br) and the Study Group of the Foreign Language Press in Brazil registered at CNPq - TRANSFOPRESS Brasil (http://transfopressbrasil.unesp.franca.br), about foreign language press published in Brazil, within which I research especially cultural exchange between Brazilian and French press. I had a project chosen by Programme DEA - Directeurs dÉtudes Associés da Fondation Maison des sciences de l'homme (France). I participate the International Research Network - Capes Print by which I was Visiting Professor at Université Laval, Québec, Canada (2019/2020).I have conducted research on faits divers and the beginnings of sensationalism in the Brazilian press, and currently dedicate myself to research on circulation and publication of French newspapers and magazines in Brazil.
