Birthplace: Brazil

Graduated in Electrical Engineering from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (2002), with a Master's degree in Astrophysics (2006) and a PhD in Space Geophysics with emphasis on Atmospheric Sciences (2010) from the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE). He has extensive experience in atmospheric electricity, including advanced lightning detection techniques in LF/VLF, high-speed cameras, and meteorological radar systems. During his FAPESP-funded postdoctoral fellowship, he was responsible for developing the Automated Multi-camera Network for Lightning Monitoring and Research (RAMMER), as part of the Atmospheric Electricity Group (ELAT/INPE). Currently, he is a professor and researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology of São Paulo State University "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (ICT/UNESP), São José dos Campos campus, working in the Department of Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on developing low-cost instrumentation, applying lightning data to identify severe storms, and interdisciplinary collaborations in related fields, such as the socio-environmental impacts of illegal open-air burning of copper cables. He is a collaborating faculty member of the Natural Disasters Graduate Program, jointly offered by ICT-UNESP and CEMADEN, and currently serves as the Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering at ICT-UNESP.
