Samuel Frederico is professor of the Geography Department of University of Sao Paulo State, Brazil. He graduated and holds a Masters degree in Geography in the University of Campinas (Brazil) and a PhD in Human Geography in the University of Sao Paulo (USP). His research interests include the territorial dynamics of modernization and expansion of agriculture in Brazil, especially soybeans and coffee and the power of regulation of large global companies. More recently, he has extended his research to the relationship between the global financialization of the economy and land grabbing in areas of agricultural frontier in Brazil.
