Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a degree in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), where I also obtained a Masters in Genetics and Molecular Biology. I earned my Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), including a research internship at Texas AM University (USA). I completed postdoctoral research at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew/Queen Mary University of London, and at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). I was a FAPESP Young Investigator Fellow (Grant 2011/22215-3; 20122017) and currently serve as a faculty member at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Botucatu campus, where I also act as tutor of the PET-Biology program and coordinate the outreach project Conexões Verdes, focused on orchid conservation. I am affiliated with the Graduate Programs in Evolution and Diversity (UFABC) and in Biological Sciences Genetics (UNESP/IBB). I coordinate a FAPESP research grant (Proc. 22/05890-3) and am part of the FAPESP Research Center for Biodiversity Dynamics and Climate Change (Proc. 21/10639-5). My research integrates cytogenetic, cytogenomic, and phylogenetic approaches to investigate the roles of hybridization, polyploidy, and genome size variation in the evolution of Neotropical plants, with a focus on Orchidaceae.
