Héctor Luis Saint-Pierre has a PhD in Political Philosophy (1996) from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and is Full Professor of International Security and Conflict Resolution at São Paulo State University (UNESP). Since 2015, he has been the Executive Coordinator of UNESPs Institute of Public Policy and International Relations. He coordinates the research area of Peace, Defense, and International Security at the Graduate School of International Relations San Tiago Dantas. Saint-Pierre is a founding member and the current leader of the Defense and International Security Study Group (GEDES, in Portuguese). He is a researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and at São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Saint Pierre is also a member of the Interamerican Defense Colleges ad hoc Academic Board, member of the board of directors of the Latin American Security and Defence Network (RESDAL), consultant member of the Institute of Science Issue, President of the Russian-Latin American Association for Strategic Studies, and a member of multiple editorial councils and reviewer of several scientific publications. Has experience in Science Politics, focusing on International Integration, Conflict, War and Peace, acting on the following subjects: forças armadas, segurança internacional, américa latina, defesa and segurança cooperativa.
