Birthplace: Brazil

I hold a degree in Physiotherapy from São Paulo State University - Júlio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP, 2001), a master's degree in Sciences (Organ and System Physiology) from the University of São Paulo (2004), and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Physiology) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2008). My academic career began as an adjunct professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia (20082012), and I am currently an assistant professor at São Paulo State University - Júlio de Mesquita Filho. Over the years, I have developed extensive experience in Human and Animal Physiology, with a particular focus on Cardiovascular and Renal Physiology, as well as research involving stem cell therapy and medicinal plants.Beyond these core interests, I have dedicated myself to studying obesity, recognizing its significance as a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. My research explores the effects of natural products on the cardiovascular and renal systems, investigates the potential of stem cell therapy for cardiovascular conditions, and examines obesity from both pathophysiological and socioeconomic perspectives. In parallel, I have been an active member of the Brazilian Society of Physiology since 2007 and am deeply committed to making physiology more accessible by integrating scientific concepts with everyday life and clinical practice. My work extends beyond research, as I also lead outreach projects focused on obesity, nutritional education, and sustainable consumption. I believe that disseminating knowledge is a powerful tool for promoting healthier lifestyle choices and challenging the stigma surrounding obesity. Within the academic environment, I actively foster physical and mental well-being by taking on leadership roles and coordinating initiatives that encourage physical activity on campus beyond regular academic hours. Additionally, I engage in discussions on Women in Science, advocating for diversity as a fundamental driver of scientific progress.Above all, my greatest achievement is being Miguels mother, a role that has shaped me in profound ways.
