Roberto Nardi holds a degree in Physics from the São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho - UNESP (1972), a Master's degree in Science Education from the School of Education at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA (1978), and a PhD in Education from the School of Education at the University of São Paulo, FEUSP (1989) with a postdoctoral internship at the State University of Campinas - Unicamp (2004-2005). He was a professor, vice-head and head of the Physics Department at the State University of Londrina - UEL (1980-1993). Secretary for Teaching Affairs of the Brazilian Physics Society - SBF (1991-1993), Executive Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Brazilian Association for Research in Science Education - ABRAPEC (2000-2005). Since 1994, he has worked in the Department of Education and in the Postgraduate Program in Science Education at the Faculty of Sciences of UNESP, Bauru, as an Associate Professor and Full Professor. He is one of the leaders of the Science Teaching Research Group (GEPEC), interested in topics related to Science teaching, particularly Physics teaching, in issues related to teaching, learning and initial and continuing teacher training. More recently, he was Coordinator of the Science and Mathematics Teaching Area and Member of the Technical Advisory Council for Higher Education (CTC-ES) of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) in the three-year period 2008-2011. President (chair) of the International Commission on Physics Education (C14) of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics - IUPAP (2014-2021). In 2022, he was awarded the IUPAP Teaching Commission Medal. He is currently a member of the European Science Education Research Association (ESERA), the Brazilian Physics Society (SBF), the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), the Brazilian Association for Research in Science Education (Abrapec), the European Society of Research in Science Education (ESERA), the Council of the Interamerican Conferences in Physics Education (IACPE) and the Latin American Network for Research in Didactics of Experimental Sciences (REDLAD). He is an ad hoc consultant for the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Brazilian Studies and Projects Funding Agency (FINEP) and other research support foundations in Brazilian states. He is also a member of the editorial board of several national and international journals. He has supervised 98 master's (25), doctoral (33), post-doctoral (9) studies, monographs (9), TCC (8) and IC (14). He has participated in 464 international, national or regional events, as a member of organizing or scientific committees. He has published 218 articles in national and international journals and 138 books and/or book chapters. He is a member of the Council of Inter-American Conferences on Physics Teaching (CCIAEF), one of the founders (1997) and current alternate member of the Council of the Graduate Program in Science Education (Unesp) and one of the editors of the journal Ciência Educação, UNESP - Bauru Campus.
