Resumo
As in the previous editions of this workshop we plan to have mini-courses on scientific writing by Laura Greene and Celia M. Elliott. They both deliver wonderful and lively lectures. All the material of the previous editions can be found at the webpage of the Research Commission of IFSC: pdf with the lectures, lecture notes, and relevant articles. There will also be presentations by Prof. Laura Greene (2017 Presidente of the American Physical Society), Prof. Laurens Molenkamp (Editor of Physical Review B), Dr. Julie Kim-Zajonz (Editor of Physical Review Applied), Prof. Henrik Rudolph (Editor of Applied Surfaces Sciences) on themes related to scientific publishing. We will also have a roundtable to discuss important issues such as plagiarism, fraud, peer reviewing, open access journal vs. archival journals, impact factors, and many other related subjects. In the 2012 edition, we had the pleasure of having Prof. Zago (then the Research Provost of USP) as a roundtable panelist. In this years' edition we would like to have Prof. Sylvio Canuto (Research provost of USP) participating either in our roundtable or as a speaker within our program. We should also have talks on proposal writing and funding. We plan to invite a representative of FAPESP to participate in the workshop as well. Finally, as usual, we will host a "tutorial for authors and referees" to be delivered by Editors of the Physical Review and Physical Review Letters of the American physical society (Dra Kim-Zajonz and Dr Molenkamp).
